David Crenshaw Braithwaite

August 30, 1953 - February 19, 2022

Memorial Services for Mr. David C. Braithwaite, 68, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, entered into rest on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at his home in Washington, Georgia, will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Posey Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. Mr. Braithwaite was born in Sevenoaks, England, the son of the late Robin B. H. Braithwaite and Susanna W. Braithwaite and was raised in England until his family moved to Augusta, GA in 1967. Mr. Braithwaite was a proud graduate of The Citadel in Charleston, SC and was then employed as a manager for Air Liquide, USA. In the ensuing years, he continued to work in the industrial gas business in various management capacities for Air Liquide, PraxAir, and Liquid Carbonic in Greenville, SC, Asheville, NC, Atlanta, GA, Chicago, IL and Houston, TX until he retired to his small farm in Washington, Georgia in 2016. Mr. Braithwaite developed a real appreciation and affection for his new adopted hometown and community which inspired him to open an ice cream shop, Kettle Creek Creamery, on the town square in Washington last year. Survivors include his wife, Amanda J.M. Braithwaite; a son, Lt. Col. David Jess Braithwaite, USAF (Julie) of Colorado Springs, CO; a daughter, Dr. Carolyn B. Jordan (Ben) of Augusta, GA; three grandchildren, Hugh D. Jordan, Benjamin R. Jordan, and Emily Grace Braithwaite; four siblings, Bruce W. Braithwaite of Mooresville, N.C., Carolyn B. Hooks (Dr. Vendie H. Hooks, III) of Augusta, GA, Robin A. Braithwaite (Cheri) of Aiken, SC and Andrew D. Braithwaite (Michelle) of Augusta, GA; a multitude of adoring nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and nieces.
