David O'Neal "Neal" Smith

North Augusta, SC – Private Graveside Services for Mr. David O’Neal “Neal” Smith, 82, who entered into rest, June 25, 2020 will be conducted in Pineview Memorial Gardens with Reverend Roy Kiser officiating. Mr. Smith was born on September 6, 1937 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Neal was a longtime member of First Baptist Church North Augusta where he was active in the Faithful Sunday School class. He worked at Babcock-Wilcox in Augusta, Georgia until his retirement. Neal was a Freemason, member of the Acacia Lodge No. 315 AFM in North Augusta, SC. He loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time at his lake house, boating and fishing. Neal was also very proud of his abundant vegetable garden. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 38 years, Peggy Brasher Smith and son, Kenneth Smith. Survivors include stepdaughter, Marcia (Bill) Crosland; stepson, Phillip (Carla) Brasher; daughter, Tammy (Dennis) Hester; brother, Ralph (Saundra) Smith; grandchildren Ashley (Michael) Crosland, Will (Blaine)Crosland, Emily Brasher, Edward Brasher, Maci Ellen Brasher, Charlene Hester, and Dennis Hester Jr. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church North Augusta, 625 Georgia Avenue, North Augusta, SC 29841.
