Dena Dabbs Holmes

Modoc, SC – Graveside Services for Mrs. Dena Dabbs Holmes, 63, who entered into rest January 29, 2022, will be conducted Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock in the Holmes Family Cemetery with Brother Eric Shealy presiding. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service. Mrs. Holmes was born July 30, 1958 to Dorothy Berry Dabbs and the late Raymond Edgar Dabbs. She was a native of Clearwater, SC, having made Modoc, SC her home for the past 27 years. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and retired from the National Wild Turkey Federation with 22 years of service. Mrs. Holmes had a passion for music and loved gardening. She had a creative mind and enjoyed crafting, sewing and quilting. Mrs. Holmes adored her family and looked forward to every family gathering and cooking for those she loved. She fed many people in her home and considered anyone who sat at her dinner family. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Edgar Dabbs, II. Survivors include her husband of 35 years, F. Allen Holmes; a son, Vaughn Holmes (Jennifer Davis) of North Augusta; two daughters, Lauryn Gable (Dusty) of Modoc and Chelsey Holmes of Graniteville; her mother, Dorothy Dabbs of North Augusta; two sisters, Ramona Burrows and Maria Swires (Allan) both of North Augusta; and one grandchild, Silas Holmes. Active Pallbearers will be Harold Hardin, Eric Holmes, Nathan Hansen, George Padgett, Chad Burrows and Justin Hudson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dalton Swires and Brandon Holmes.
