Deacon King David Curry Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

North Augusta, SC – Celebration of Life Services for Deacon King David Curry, 72, who entered into rest February 18, 2022, at Doctors Hospital, Martinez, GA, will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1 o’clock in the Posey Funeral Chapel. Reverend Reginald Grimes, officiating and Minister Lashaun Ryans, presiding. Interment will follow in Mims Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday for an Evening of Remembrance from 5 until 7 o’clock. The family kindly requests for all those in attendance to wear a mask. David was born and raised in North Augusta, SC, the third of ten children, to the late Leroy and Essie Ware Curry. David received his early education at Aiken County Public Schools. He graduated from Jobs Corp of America with a certification in Carpentry and later earned a certification as an Electrician. David was employed by Parksdale Textile Plant and retired as an Electrician after forty years of service. Following his retirement, he served three years with the Aiken County School System as a school bus driver. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his workshop and fishing. David was married fifty-two years to his loving wife, Josephine Young-Curry. Through their union they were blessed with four children. He was converted and baptized at the Mims Grove Baptist Church under the pastorage of Reverend Thomas Scott. David served in the capacity of deacon, trustee and sang in the church choir. Left to cherish fond and pleasant memories are his devoted wife of fifty-two years, Josephine Young-Curry; his children, Rodney C. Young of Martinez, GA, David M. Curry of Beech Island, SC, Damita J. (Nathaniel) Rembert of Columbia, SC and Kelvin D. Curry of Augusta, GA; a legacy of ten grandchildren, Darian Curry, Rondius Rembert, Ashley Rembert, Micayla Young, Kashon Curry, David Curry Jr., Alisha Curry, Ryanna Rembert, Cameron Rembert, Kendall Curry; four great grandchildren; eight siblings, Leroy (Shelly) Curry, Ruby (William) Reynolds, Essie Lee (Eddie) Jefferson, Minister Hasting (Earnestine) Curry, Deacon Aruthur Daniel (Corine) Curry, Geneva (Johnny) Wooden, Reverend Timothy (Sharolyn) Curry, and Theodore Curry (Marcella Drummings) all of North Augusta, SC; sisters-in-law, Fannie Mae Walker, Rosetta (James) Nathaniel, Inez Jones, Diane (Eddie) Johnson; brothers-in-law, Roosevelt Young and LeRoy (Sharon) Young; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a brother, Nathan Curry. Pallbearers will be Mr. Curry’s nephews.
