Linda M. Chumney Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

North Augusta, SC – A visitation celebrating the life of Mrs. Linda M. Chumney, 79, who entered into rest June 24, 2022, will be conducted Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 o’clock at Posey Funeral Directors. Mrs. Chumney was born January 13, 1943, to the late W.H. “Bunk” and Josie “Jo” Morgan. She was a native of North Augusta, SC, formerly a resident of Charleston, SC, and made North Augusta her home again for over 20 years. Mrs. Chumney married her beloved husband, Jack, in July of 1968 and she had four wonderful children. She was a devout Christian woman, a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta and attended Deer Park Baptist Church in Charleston, SC. Mrs. Chumney was an accomplished musician and served as church organist and pianist for many years. She enjoyed the simple things of life like playing bridge and was known as “the best bridge player in North Augusta.” Mrs. Chumney was also an avid sports enthusiast. When she was not supporting, cheering, playing catch or coaching one of her children or grandchildren, she was following the Atlanta Braves, the Dallas Cowboys and all things golf, especially the Masters. In her high school years, she was a State Champion diver and always sought for academic excellence, where she was Salutatorian of North Augusta High School. Mrs. Chumney’s greatest joy in life was her family and will be fondly remembered for having a servant’s heart. She constantly gave of herself and cared for others throughout her life without hesitation. Surviving family include her husband of 54 years, Jack L. Chumney; three sons, John McEntire of Jefferson City, TN, Wade Chumney (Tammi) of Ventura, CA, and Lee Chumney (Christina) of Johns Island, SC; a daughter, Pamela Chumney of Augusta, GA; eight grandchildren, Morgan Chumney, Jacob McEntire, Mary Chumney, Gray Chumney, Luke Chumney, Benjamin Chumney, Jack Chumney and London Chumney.
