Belvedere, SC – Funeral Services for Mr. Sam Forrest, Jr., 84, who entered rest February 12, 2022, will be conducted Friday afternoon at 1 PM in the Posey Funeral Chapel. Rev. Dr. Charles E. Goodman Jr., Presiding and Rev. Limeur Myers, Eulogist. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening, February 17, 2022, from 5 until 7 PM. Mr. Forrest was born August 11, 1937, to the late Sam Forrest, Sr. and Mattie Nobles Forrest. He was a lifelong resident of Aiken County and graduated from Jefferson High School. Mr. Forrest was an active member of Old Hammond Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a devout Christian who loved his family dearly. Through his example, he taught the importance of kindness towards others and instilled a strong work ethic in his children and grandchildren. Mr. Forrest worked for Peoples Drug Store for several years, he then moved to the Graniteville Company for several years and later established his career in the transportation field. He was the owner of the Pentagon Charter Bus Company, and the Forrest Trucking Company. Sam eventually retired as a technician from Michelin Company. In his retirement, he continued to serve his community, driving for the Lewis Bus Lines and Aiken County’s Community transit service, “Best Friends Express.” Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Roberta G. Forrest; a son, Rev. Robert Myers (Ruby); two daughters, Rhonda Rice and Jacqueline Carter; one brother, (Ret. USAF) Lt. Col. George E. Forest (Gail); three sisters, Debra Ann Quiller, Rosa Lee English and Louise Williams (Bishop Jackie E); An adopted brother, Anthony Forrest (Evelyn) ; four sisters-in-law, Minnie Ethel (Judy) Garrett; Florine Thomas; Lydia Forrest; and Mildred Forrest; six grandchildren, Shonda S. Bell; (Ret., USN) Chief Petty Officer, Antonio Garrett; Brittaney Carter; Shatarra Reeves (D’mitri); Adran Stokes and Harold Carter, III; nineteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and god-daughter, Michele Forest-Johnson. He also leaves to mourn, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all SPECIAL. He was preceded in death by a son, (US Army) Sgt Alonzo Garrett, son-in-law, Will Rice, and five siblings, Mary Julia Turner, Alvin Forrest, Willie Grant Forrest, Rev. Douglas E. Forrest and Leroy Forrest. Pallbearers will be Mr. Forrest’s nephews. The family extends thanks to Ms. Mildred Watkins, Sam’s nursing caregiver. You will always be special to us. In addition, the entire family would be remiss if we did not say thank you to Roberta, Sam’s wife and caregiver 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for untiring love and support throughout Sam’s illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in the name of Sam Forrest Jr., to Regency Hospice, 105 Summerwood Way, Suite D, Aiken, South Carolina 29803.
