Lucas Benjamin Oliver

Elgin, SC – A Celebration of Life for Lucas Benjamin Oliver, 10, who finished his fight with childhood cancer on November 8, 2024, will be conducted Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock in the Posey Funeral Chapel, Pastor Jamie Ballentine officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5 until 7. The family asks those in attendance to wear casual clothes including a Lucas t shirt or any of his favorite colors, red, orange and blue. Lucas was born on November 21, 2013, in Columbia, SC to Andrew and Alex Oliver. His fight with leukemia began with this diagnosis in 2017 at the Children's Hospital of Georgia. In 2021 Lucas received a bone marrow transplant at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital with his mom being his donor, she gave him his extra years of life. Despite the hard and painful treatments, he underwent, Lucas loved going to clinic to get snacks and toys and to see his friends. He loved LEGOs, building anything, and taking things apart namely to figure out how they worked even if it meant breaking it in the process. Lucas loved dinosaurs and had a wealth of random facts about them, especially his favorite, T-Rex. He enjoyed playing video games with his dad and had a favorite game, Zelda: BOTW. He loved Pokemon and collecting Pokemon cards. When it came to food, Lucas’ favorites were his dad’s sauerkraut, his mom's biscuits and gravy, and Red Lobster, especially lobster. He was always smiling, strong, happy and kind, never wanting his friends to experience pain. Lucas loved his family and enjoyed going to his Grandma and Poppie’s mountain house and GiGi and Pops lake house, loving on the dogs and spending time with his sister, Lilly playing Minecraft. Lucas is survived by his family and friends which include his parents, Alex and Andrew Oliver; sister, Lilly; grandparents, Eddie and Loretta Fillman, Mark and Mindy Steedley and Sara and Guy Oliver; great grandma, Rebecca Oliver; aunt, Rebecca Oliver; uncle, Daniel Oliver; cousins, John, Abigail and Paisley; dogs, Tinkerbell, Belle, Rex and Tanner; besties, Rebecca and Ryan Bonig, Kristen and Joe Johnson and the Hoft Family. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and love to Dr. Hudspeth, Dr. Paige, Shannon, Dylan, Emily, Ava, Kaitlyn, Taco, Betsy, Mandy, Aggie and the MUSC Team, Dr. Ring, Aunt Kim, Kate, Pam, Victoria, Harleigh, Nugget and the CHOG Team for their compassionate care to Lucas during his fight.
