Charles Ronald "Ronnie" Koss Sr.

North Augusta, SC- Funeral Services for Charles Ronald “Ronnie” Koss, Sr., 87, who entered into rest on April 27th will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel, Rev. Mark Abbott officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens with Veteran’s Honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until 2 o’clock. Ronnie was born January 19th, 1937, in the Frog Hollow neighborhood of Augusta, GA. He was a proud graduate of Richmond Academy, Class of 1955. Ronnie later graduated from USC Aiken with an associate degree in criminal justice. He made North Augusta, SC his home in 1962 and was a member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta. Ronnie served his country honorably in the US Navy, US Army Reserve, and the SC and GA Army National Guard in the Military Intelligence Branch. He earned the title of Sergeant First Class with 27 years of service. Having carried newspapers since he was 11 years old, Ronnie retired as a Letter Carrier from the United States Postal Service with 44 years of service. He was actively involved in his community as a member of the Jesse C. Lynch Memorial American Legion Post 71, an associate member of the Riverfront Marines, and a member of both the Acacia Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite of Augusta. He enjoyed gardening, raising cattle on his farm in Edgefield County, and spending time at his cottage on Edisto Beach. Ronnie also loved fishing, conversations about history, Irish travel and culture, and making memories with his family, who he loved deeply. Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Henry and Inez Rushton Koss, and his dear relatives, Edna Rearden Hearn and Lillie Rushton Allen. Surviving family members left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Joyce McDaniel Koss; three children, Kelly Koss (Brett) Brannon, Charles Ronald (Kim) Koss, Jr., and Shannon Koss; five grandchildren, Chelsea Brannon (Chad) Waddell, David Brannon, Katherine Koss (Garrett) Timmerman, Clare (Blake Jones) Koss and Lindsey Odum; and two great-grandchildren, Charles Brady Waddell and Harper Ainsley Timmerman. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Morris, Bennie Hall, Charlie Kennedy, Jerry McLaughlin, Chad Waddell, David Brannon, Garrett Timmerman, Blake Jones, and Brandon Skinner. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Michael Johnson, Dr. Billy Thurmond, and the Cardiac Unit at Piedmont Hospital for their exceptional care.
