Doris Nell Gilliam Bellamy

Mrs. Doris Nell Gilliam Bellamy, 91, of Beech Island, South Carolina, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 21, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Harvey D. Bellamy, Sr. The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at 11 o’clock at Historic First Baptist Church of Beech Island with Pastor Greg Williams officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Bellamy was born in Acree, Georgia on January 29, 1932, to the late R.D. Gilliam and Nellie Boalch Gilliam. She attended the Historic First Baptist Church of Beech Island from the age of seventeen and became a member in 1969 when she and her family moved back to Beech Island. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, canning, sewing, shopping, attending Church and outings with her friends from Church, affectionately known as Cookie’s Kids. She was known for her selfless acts of kindness, as she was always cooking everyone’s favorite comfort food, some of which include potato salad, vegetable soup, cabbage rolls, “shake-baby-shake” for her grandchildren, dressing, divinity, and her famous fried apple pies, just to name a few! In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by grandsons, Chris Bellamy and Matthew Bellamy; daughter-in-law Jane Daniels Bellamy; brothers R. J. Gilliam, Bobby Gilliam, and Don Gilliam. Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Lynn Greene; sons Harvey D. Bellamy, Jr., and Tommy C. Bellamy; grandchildren, Alison Key Lowe (Jonathan), Shelley Key Bowman (Steven), H.D. Bellamy, III, Michael, Eric and Tylor Bellamy, Jessica Bellamy (Sadarrius), and John Christy; great-grandchildren, Carsyn Lowe Zambrano (Omar), Cameron Lowe (Alexis), Keeley Bowman Pitts (Mark), Bentley Bowman (Alaina), Haeley and Ryley Bowman, Caedyn, Cullen, Maddisyn, Mason, and Jack Lowe, Evonteis Parker, Trinity Isles, Ka’iden and Ky’rie Taylor, Starlynn, Mayson, and Kaylee Bellamy, Preston and Caleb Christy; great-great grandchildren, Sebastian and Julian Zambrano, Waylon Bowman, and Wade Cameron Lowe. Pallbearers will be Cameron Lowe, Bentley Bowman, Cullen Lowe, Omar Zambrano, Michael Bellamy, Tylor Bellamy, John Christy, and Honorary Pallbearer, Josh T. Key. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Historic First Baptist Church of Beech Island, 170 Church Street, Beech Island, SC 29842.
