Doris Walden Smith

North Augusta, SC—Mrs. Doris Walden Smith, 89, wife of the late Robert (Bob) Hamilton Smith, took her last breath on earth and her first breath in heaven, on Tuesday morning, October 19, 2021. She was currently living at Brookdale North Augusta. A celebration of God’s grace in her life will be held Saturday morning, October 23, 2021, at 10 o’clock in Pineview Memorial Gardens in North Augusta, SC with Reverend Richard Smith officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. For those who are unable to attend, the Graveside Service will be livestreamed on Posey Funeral Directors Facebook page. Doris was the daughter of the late Lizzie Lee Walden and Luce Walden and was raised in Gibson, Georgia. She graduated from Georgia Southern University in 1953 and started her career at Savannah River Site. After raising her boys, she worked at Security Federal where she greatly enjoyed serving the needs of customers for many years. She and Bob traveled the country in their motorhome, deepening their appreciation for the beauty and blessings of God on this land. Doris also enjoyed caring for her home and yard as it served as a frequent gathering place for family and friends. Doris loved her family and continually shaped them through her sacrifices, laughter, and prayers. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, North Augusta. Doris was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Brassell, and grandson, Clay Robinson. The family would like to offer special thanks to Brookdale, North Augusta, for providing kind and excellent care the past two years. She is survived by her sons, Robert (Rob) Hamilton Smith, Jr. (Sheila) of Ridgeland, SC; Richard Walden Smith (Lisa) of Spartanburg, SC; her grandson Trey Robinson; her granddaughter, Anna Ryan Parker, of Lexington, SC; her great grandson, Wells Hamilton Parker; her sister, Margie Howell (Roy) of Jackson, SC, and several nieces and nephews.
