Elga A. Hardy

Mrs. Elga A. Hardy North Augusta, SC—Funeral Services for Mrs. Elga a. Hardy, 93, formerly of Lee Street, North Augusta, who departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on March 17, 2010, will be conducted Monday at 1 o’clock in the Posey Funeral Chapel. Rev. Brad Jay officiating. Interment in Sunset Memory Gardens. Mrs. Hardy was a native Norton, Virginia having made North Augusta her home for the past 59 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Augusta for many years where she taught Sunday School in the Primary Department. She became a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in l975 where she was involved with instructing elementary age children until her illness in 1998. Mrs. Hardy retired from Homestead Draperies, a division of United Merchants, in 1978 as a computer operator. She enjoyed traveling abroad as she toured England, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland on three occasions. Later she toured Ireland and Austrilia. Mrs. Hardy was a graduate of Norton High School and received an associate degree in accounting and computer technology from the Junior College of Augusta. Mrs. Hardy was the daughter of the late Joseph Arwood and Myrtle Ross Arwood and the eldest of ten children. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Eldred Hardy and the late Kenneth Worth McAfee. Mrs. Hardy was preceded in death by her brothers, Hubert Arwood and Matt Arwood, her sisters, Ethel Adams, Lucille Venezanie and Jeanette Reed. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra McAfee and Rick Stuart, North Augusta; a son and daughter-in-law, Don Ross and Lyndia McAfee, Fayetville, Georgia; two brothers, Bruce Arwood, Norton, Virginia and Robert Arwood, Michigan; two sisters, Wilma Potter, Wise, Virginia and Patsy Mullins, Sevierville, Tennessee; 7 grandchildren, Don Derek McAfee, Kenneth Robert McAfee, William Tanner (Trey) Powell, III, Christa P. Adams, Frank E. Stuart, Galan S. Lewis and Brannon Ross Stuart; 8 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be J. R. Lewis, Andy Adams, Derek McAfee, Kenny McAfee, Trey Powell, Frank Stuart and Brannon Stuart. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6.
