Gary E. Schuster

North Augusta, SC – Mr. Gary E. Schuster, 85, entered into rest December 2, 2025. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, December 6th, at 1 o’clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel with Rev. Justin Epps officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 12 until 1 o’clock. Gary was born June 21, 1940, to the late Oscar Raymond Schuster and Hazel Carroll Schuster. He was a native of St. Elmo, IL, having made North Augusta, SC his home for the past 63 years. He retired from Kimberly Clark with 31 years of service and was a devoted member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he faithfully served in many capacities throughout the years. Gary was a true patriot, was a proud U.S. Army veteran, and was actively involved in the Jesse C. Lynch American Legion Post 71. Gary was the recipient of the Legionnaire Award, was an integral part of the ceremonial honor guard, and served as the post’s longtime Wednesday morning breakfast cook. Additionally, Gary volunteered with the American Flag Committee at the Charlie Norwood VA Hospital, where he regularly served with the color guard, raising and lowing flags. Gary truly had a servant’s heart. He volunteered at the North Augusta Recreation Department and dedicated many hours to mentoring and teaching conversational English to Spanish-speaking members in the community. Gary enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, and proudly served as president of the Belvedere Bass Busters in the 1980’s. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Lowe and Linda Holste; his brothers-in-law, Jerry Holste and Larry Kramer. Surviving family members left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 63 years, Jo Schuster; his daughter, Debbie Smith (Cal); his granddaughter, Dorn Morris (Chris); his great-grandson, Thompson Gary Morris; his siblings, Danny Schuster (Linda), Don Schuster (Rita), and Helen Kramer; his brother-in-law, John Lowe; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Cal Smith, Chris Morris, John Krilcich, Matthew Bugg, Price Dunaway, and Alden Hathaway.
