Mrs. Helen Sutton Collins-Smith North Augusta, SC—Funeral Services for Mrs. Helen Sutton Collins-Smith, 83, of Millstone Lane, North Augusta, SC, who entered into rest January 4, 2012, will be conducted Friday morning at 11 o’clock from the Belvedere First Baptist Church. Rev. John Meyer and Dr. Roy L. Head officiating. Interment in Pineview Memorial Park. Mrs. Collins-Smith was a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina having made the North Augusta-Belvedere area her lifelong residence. She was a member of the Belvedere First Baptist Church, the Sanctuary Choir, the Lucy Pearson Sunday School Class, the Golden Age Club, the Sheffield Club, the Belvedere Women’s Club and volunteered at the University Hospital. Mrs. Collins-Smith was a retired Auditor with Sears and Roebuck Company with 45 years of service. Mrs. Collins-Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Troy H. and Catherine Sterling Sutton and her brother, Elbert Lee Sutton. She was also preceded in death by her first husband of 31 years, Melvin Conley Collins and her second husband of 12 years, William E. L. (Bill) Smith. Survivors include three sons and their wives, Wayne and Anita Collins, Johnston, Mark and Leigh Anne Collins and Matt and Denise Collins, all of North Augusta; a daughter and her husband, Katie and Mark Hall, Alabaster, Alabama; six grandchildren, Mark Collins, Jr., Parker Collins, Jonathan Leonard, Jennifer Leonard, Alicia (Aaron) Bennett and Courtney Collins; a great-granddaughter, Callie Jo Bennett; two sisters, Billie S. Eubanks and Bonnie S. Boone, both of Graniteville; a sister-in-law, Betty Sutton Usry, North Augusta. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Lucy Pearson Sunday School Class and the Golden Age Club. Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Deacons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Thursday evening from 5 until 7.
