Jack Choice Lowery

Mr. Jack C. Lowery New Ellenton, SC—Funeral Services for Mr. Jack Choice Lowery, 88, of New Ellenton, SC, who closed his eyes for the last time in his earthly body on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 and opened them and was welcomed home by his Lord and Savior will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock from Foreman Memorial Baptist Church. Rev. William Eaves and Dr. Buddy Freeman officiating. Interment in Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken. Mr. Lowery was a native of Shelby, North Carolina having made New Ellenton his home for the past 65 years. He graduated from Number 3 High School in Shelby, North Carolina in l944 and attended the last Class Reunion in 2014. He was a US Army Veteran having served in the Korean War and always counted it a blessing that he was chosen to serve in “cook” school. It always served him well in life that he had learned to cook and could make a “meal in a pot” with no trouble. Mr. Lowery moved to New Ellenton in the early l950’s to take a job at the Savannah River Site where he retired with 40 years of service in l993. He always looked forward to the 25 year dinners for the Site Employees. Mr. Lowery was a member of Foreman Memorial Baptist Church and the Berea Pals Sunday School Class. Survivors include his wife and soul mate of 60 years, Betty Hoyle Lowery; a daughter, who he always called “Daddy’s Girl”, Deborah Eubanks (Joe), New Ellenton; two grandchildren, his pride and joy, James Steven Eubanks (Amanda), Douglasville, Georgia and Valerie Eubanks Ryman (Matt), Haslett, Michigan; a niece, Dr. Gayla Lowery, (Dr. Buddy Freeman), Marshall, North Carolina; a nephew, Dr. Richard Dixon (Meda), Shelby, North Carolina; two great nephews, Andrew Dixon (Meridith) and Charles Dixon, all who he dearly loved. Mr. Lowery was preceded in death by his parents, John Choice Lowery and Ida Dover Lowery, his sister, Mary Lowery Dixon and his brother, Randolph Lowery. The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Shlaer and his staff, especially Lisa Gordon, Monique Berry and Latoya Toole for their kindness and love shown to him through his three battles with cancer. They would also like to express appreciation to Dr. Heaberlin for her support and kindness during the final walk of this journey and to the 10th Floor West Nurses and Staff and University Hospital for the care and compassion shown not only to Jack but to the entire family. Paramount to his journey was Professional Case Management and their many wonderful supportive nurses. The family wishes to thank Trinity Hospice for their support walking them through to the end of this earthly journey and to the many friends that have been there, they will never be able to repay them for all they have done. A special appreciation is given to Rev. William Eaves for his loyal support during this journey. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Berea Pals Sunday School Class from Foreman Memorial Baptist Church, Claude Blair, Bill Whitlock and Joe Hill. Active Pallbearers will be Steven Eubanks, Valerie Eubanks Ryman, Matt Ryman, Dr. Rick Dixon, Philip Moore and Johnny Dyer.
