Rev. James C. Steed Charleston, WV—Graveside Services for Rev. James Chance Steed, 75, of Charleston, West Virginia, who entered into rest May 30, 2011, will be conducted Monday morning at 11o’clock in the Jackson Memorial Cemetery. Pastor Allen Cantrell, Pastor Robert Driggers and Rev. Greg Altizer officiating. Veterans Honors will be rendered. Rev. Steed was a native of Jackson, South Carolina, having made Charleston his home for the past several years. He was a Missionary with Amazing Grace Mission, Dayton, TN; a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Elkview, WV where he had served as the former Bus Director for eight years. He was the former Pastor of Pine Creek Baptist Church, Pine Creek, NC and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Steed was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Trull Steed and his parents, L. B. and Margolese Chance Steed, Sr. Rev. Steed was a loving husband, step-father and step-grandfather. His life reflected the words of the Apostle Paul as found in II Timothy 4:7-8, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, The Righteous Judge will give to me on that day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” Survivors include his loving wife, Charlotte Eloise Eagle Steed; a step-son and his wife, Kelsey and Kellie Harding, Jr., Pinch, WV; a step-daughter and her fiance’, Lorinda L. Harding and Tom Baldwin, Charleston, WV; five brothers and their wives, Leonard B. and Margaret Steed, Jr., Ronald M. Steed and Gregory S. and Cindy Steed, all of Jackson, Edwin E. and Brenda Steed, Sarasota, FL and Stephen K. and Sharon Steed, Central, SC; a sister, Betty Steed McGahee, St. Simmons, GA; five grandchildren, Jarrel R. Stricklen, Jonathan D. Stricklen, Tyler M. Casillas, Justin H. Harding and Sarah E. Harding. The family will receive friends at the Jackson Bible Church Monday morning from 9:30 until 10:45.
