Janet Lyman Simon Heinhold

North Augusta, SC – Memorial Services for Janet Lyman Simon-Heinhold, 81, who entered into rest January 9, 2023, will be conducted Sunday, January 15th afternoon at 3 o’clock from St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, Father Joseph Shippen officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Heinhold was born February 2, 1941, in Columbia, South Carolina, to the late Osman Prouse Lyman Jr. (Pete) and Mary Ann Wesley Lyman. In addition to her parents, Janet is also preceded in death by her beloved husband and best friend, Charles Ronald Heinhold (Chuck). Janet grew up in Columbia and graduated from Dreher High School with the class of 1959. She went on to attend Winthrop College (University) and graduated in 1963 with a BS in Elementary Education. She taught school for 33 years, impacting the lives of countless children. Janet will be deeply missed by her four children and their families who loved her greatly: F. Nicholas Simon, III “Tripp” (Allison) of Lexington, SC; Stephanie Simon Headrick of North Augusta, SC: Julie Simon Fries (Jeff) of Flat Rock, NC; Carl Caston Simon “Cas” (Krissy) of Warrenville, SC. Janet will also be remembered by her seven wonderful grandchildren: Ashlyn Paige Simon and Brett Nicholas Simon of Lexington, SC; Clayton Doyle Headrick and Hannah Wynne Headrick of North Augusta, SC; Adam Wesley Fries of Flat Rock, NC; Savannah Ashlyn Berry of Oklahoma City, OK and Parker Caston Simon of Warrenville, SC. She leaves behind her beloved brother Stephen Wesley Lyman “Steve” (Cathy) of Lexington, SC. She is also survived by her former husband and father of her four children, F. Nicholas Simon, Jr. (Nick). Janet had a generosity of spirit, inherited partly from her Aunt Claude Caston, who preceded her in death. Janet served on various boards and organizations throughout her life, giving back to her community. She enjoyed sports her entire life, especially golf and football. She played tennis for many years. She loved the time spent with her bridge club and friends. Some of her favorite things were reading, traveling, going to the beach, laughing, theater and spending time with her family and friends. Janet's children, grandchildren, and teaching were the delight and mainstay of her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend who found joy in life. She continued to do all that she loved throughout her battle with cancer.
