Jimmy Lewis Barton

North Augusta, SC – Funeral Services for Mr. Jimmy Lewis Barton, 89, who entered into rest December 13, 2024, will be conducted Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock in the Posey Funeral Chapel with Dr. Paul W. Noe officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park with rendering of Full Military Honors and Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock. Jimmy was born December 1, 1935, to the late William Lewis Barton and Lula Belle Bargeron Barton. He was a native of Burke County Georgia and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy with 22 years of service. During his naval service he was a “radio man”, a Master Morris Communicator and retired a Chief Petty Officer. Jimmy was a member of the Belvedere Masonic Lodge #388, Crawford Avenue Baptist Church, and retired from his second career with DSM Chemicals as an operator with 23 years of service. He was an avid Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves fan. Jimmy enjoyed vacationing in the mountains, visiting Gatlinburg, Dollywood, and Ghost Town. Jimmy loved collecting coins and Roy D. Mercer and Ledbetter tapes, watching The Andy Griffith Show and Gunsmoke. However, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Louise Parrish and a son-in-law, Ervin Hiers. Surviving members of the family left to cherish his memory include his wife of 62 years, Carole Lott Barton; a son, Joseph Aaron Barton; three daughters, Veronica Ann Redd, Debra Hiers and Jennifer Lynn (Wade) Williams; seven grandchildren, Amanda (Colby) Prior, Christopher (Shaely) Williams, Brandon (Kayla) Croft, Kenneth Redd, Kyle Redd, Holly Plunckett and Craig Redd; fifteen great-grandchildren, Natalie Busbee, Mason Prior, Reagan Cummings, Karis Williams, Payton Williams, Mckinley Mahan, Trent Williams, Landon Croft, Layla Croft, Colton Redd, Tabius Redd, Zander Redd, Carmon Redd, Nolan Flake and Aedan Bivins; a brother, Wyndell Hinton (Cathy) Barton and two sisters, Peggy Ruth (Gary) Anderson and Gloria Thums. Mr. Barton’s family would like to express sincere appreciation to the staff of National Health Care, Trinity Hospice, Walton Rehabilitation for their compassionate care.
