Lois Frady Gannaway

Columbia, SC – Funeral Services for Mrs. Lois Frady Gannaway, 84, who entered into rest July 24, 2023, will be conducted Friday afternoon, July 28th, at 2 o’clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel. Pastor John Hamilton and Mr. Ed Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Jackson Memorial Park, Jackson, SC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 1 until 2 o’clock. Mrs. Gannaway was born November 15, 1938, in Spartanburg, SC, to the late Addie Weldon Frady and Ora Meldona Elliott Frady. She was a longtime resident of Jackson, SC, having made Columbia, SC her home for over 20 years. During her time in Jackson, Mrs. Gannaway was a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, cleaned the church often, and took great joy in serving her church family. Upon moving to Columbia, she attended New Life Baptist Church, serving her new church family for 20 years. Mrs. Gannaway truly had a servant’s heart, always willing to help others in need. She was strong in her faith and loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mrs. Gannaway will be fondly remembered as a selfless mother, the dedicated matriarch of her family, who adored her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rodney L. Gannaway; two brothers, Raymond Frady and Junior Frady; and a sister, Leigh Cook. Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Katherine Dorman of Columbia, SC, and Tilla Ann Rabon of Augusta, GA; a brother, Manuel Frady; three grandchildren, April Martin (Josh), Kenneth Kilpatrick, Jr., and Kristine Kilpatrick; six great-grandchildren, Alssa Burden, Xian Burden-Elledge (Jonathan), Trinity Verge (Arnold), Caroline Martin, Christian Kilpatrick, and Gabriella Salas; and a great-great grandchild, Adalai Verge. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Life Baptist Church, Ashland Road, Columbia, SC 29210 or to Palmetto Church of Christ, 7000 Nursery Road, Columbia, SC 29212.
