Margaret A. Helmick

North Augusta, SC- Funeral Services for Mrs. Margaret A. Helmick, 83, who entered into rest October 23, 2024, will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Posey Funeral Chapel with Pastor Paul Stephens officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 1 until 2 o’clock. A private interment will be held at a later date. Margaret was born April 24, 1941, to the late Elmer Maynard and Helen Munsey Maynard. She was a native of Widen, WV, a former resident of Richmond, WV, and Belpre, OH, having made North Augusta, SC her home for over fifteen years. In her younger years, Margaret worked as a nurse and operated a storage business with her husband, however, she served her family faithfully as a homemaker for many years. She loved her children, adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was a devoted companion to her beloved husband. Margaret was a phenomenal cook and known for signature recipes, especially her biscuits and gravy. She was a sports enthusiast and an avid Georgia Bulldogs, West Virginia Mountaineers, and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Margaret would often sit on her porch and enjoy the sound of her many windchimes. She loved watching crime shows and enjoyed the holidays, especially decorating for Christmas. Margaret frequently recalled the beauty of the West Virginia mountains and longed for her visits there. Above all, Margaret loved the Lord and lived a life of kindness and generosity. She considered herself blessed to have married her best friend and sweetheart, Melvin “Mel” Helmick, Jr., who she shared a union with for more than 47 years. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by a son, Mikey Boggs; three siblings, Johnny Maynard, Dreama Lee Fisher, and Betty Jo Timmons. Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include her husband, Melvin “Mel” Helmick, Jr.; her children, Randy Boggs, Jackie Boggs, Terry Boggs (Sharie), James Boggs, Darrell Boggs, and Christopher Grant (Blaire); twenty-three grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
