Mr. Marion B. Jones North Augusta, SC—Funeral Services for Mr. Marion B. Jones, 94, of Hammond Place Circle, North Augusta, SC, who entered into rest February 11, 2013, will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock from Grace United Methodist Church. Rev. James D. Dennis, Jr., Dr. John M. Younginer, Jr. and Dr. T. Joseph Lusk officiating. Interment in Sunset Hill Cemetery with Veterans Honors. Mr. Jones was a native of Beech Island, a former resident of Langley, having made North Augusta his home for the past 67 years. He was a 1935 graduate of LBC High School and a US Army Veteran of World War II having served with the Twentieth Armored Division. Mr. Jones career began with Dixie Clay Company until 1946 when he became employed by the Charleston and Western Railroad in the Traffic Department. In 1948 he was employed by Georgia Pacific Corporation where he retired after 30 years of service as the Traffic Manager of the Southern Division. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the American Legion Jesse C. Lynch Memorial Post #71 and the Beech Island Agricultural Club. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Catherine Grigsby Jones and a son, Marion Grigsby Jones. Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Mary Cashon Jones; a son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Sara Jones, North Augusta; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Ken Crabtree, Chapin, SC; five grandchildren, Jennifer Crabtree, Celeste LaPointe, Jacob Jones, Nathan Jones and Heather Jones; five great grandchildren, Jace Jones, Jalyn Jones, Carson Jones,Oceana LaPointe and Tallulah Crabtree; a daughter-in-law, Connie Jones, Lugoff, SC; two step-grandchildren, Neil Grice and Scott Grice; two step-sons and their wives, Earl and Helen Cashon, Statesboro, GA and Rick and Carolyn Cashon, Simpsonville, SC. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Don Pennington, Dr. Billy Thurmond, Bob Lemon and Carl Sewell. Active Pallbearers will be Phillip Pitts, William Pitts, Allen Pitts, Harold Jones, Jason Goings and Jason Whinghter. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Wednesday evening from 5 until 7.
