Robin B.H. Braithwaite

Augusta, Ga. - Mr. Robin B.H. Braithwaite, 80, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, entered into rest on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at home surrounded by his family. Memorial Services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2o’clock at Trinity-on-the-Hill United Methodist Church. Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating. Mr. Braithwaite was born in Leeds, England, the son of the late Sir Albert Newby Braithwaite and Lady Anne Anderson Braithwaite. Raised primarily in England, he first came to this country during World War II where he met Susanna Wilcox Braithwaite of Augusta, his wife of 60 years. As a young man in England, Mr. Braithwaite served in the Royal Army and later as a director of Skinner and Holford, Ltd. of London. In 1967, Mr. Braithwaite and his family moved to Augusta, Ga, where he was a manager for Air Liquide, USA until his retirement. In addition to his wife, Susanna, Mr. Braithwaite is survived by his son, Bruce W. Braithwaite of Princeton, New Jersey; his daughter, Carolyn Braithwaite Hooks (Dr. Vendie H. Hooks III) of Augusta; his son, David C. Braithwaite, of Houston, Texas; his son, Robin A. Braithwaite (Cheri A. Braithwaite) of Aiken, South Carolina; and his son, Andrew D. Braithwaite, Sr., of Augusta. Mr. Braithwaite is survived by thirteen grandchildren: V. Hudson Hooks IV (Lauren) of Atlanta; Capt. David J. Braithwaite, USAF, currently deployed in Iraq; Susanna Hooks Sayer (Jason) of Birmingham, AL.; Dr. Carolyn Braithwaite Jordan (Ben) of Augusta; Virginia Braithwaite Rabon (Brandon) of Atlanta, Ga.; David Braithwaite Hooks of Atlanta; Diana Braithwaite Gary (Kenneth) of Atlanta, Ga.; Katherine W. Hooks of Augusta; Lt. Taylor S. Braithwaite, USMC, (Jennifer) of Macon, Ga; Katelyn M. Braithwaite of Aiken, SC; Sarah E. Braithwaite of Augusta, Ga.; Andrew D. Braithwaite, Jr. of Augusta, Ga.; and Colin A. Braithwaite of Aiken, SC. Mr. Braithwaite is also survived by five great-grandchildren. Mr. Braithwaite was a member of Trinity-on–the-Hill United Methodist Church.
