Ronald Alan Kilburn

North Augusta, SC – Funeral Services for Ronald Alan Kilburn, 65, who entered into rest September 3, 2023, will be conducted Monday morning at 10 o’clock from Fairview Presbyterian Church, Dr. Allen Thompson and Rev. Daniel Morris officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 3 until 5. Ron was born October 9, 1957, in Eureka, California to the late Kenneth and Mary Kilburn. He graduated from Eureka Senior High School in 1975. Admittedly, after high school Ron didn’t have much direction in his life and dabbled in some classes at a local junior college mostly to fulfill his love for music. In 1980, with the help of his roommate he invited the Lord into his heart and his whole world changed. In 1984 Ron graduated from Point Loma College, San Diego, CA, a small liberal arts Christian college, with a bachelor’s degree. Additionally in 1984, Ron piloted his first solo flight. He went on to earn his Master of Divinity degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary, Kansas City, KS. Knowing that he was not being called to the ministry, he decided that he could still be an example to those around him of what Christ can do in a person’s life. Ron pursued aviation as a vocation during his time in seminary. After accumulating all the necessary licenses in 1991, Ron landed a job in the Caribbean flying passengers from island to island. In 1993, he obtained a job in Columbia, SC flying Learjets for Bankair, Inc., where he spent the next 29 years and became the company instructor and Director of Operations. The most important event in Ron’s life, other than finding the Lord, was meeting his wife, Laura in 2016; they married in 2018 and Ron moved to North Augusta. Laura introduced Ron to Fairview Presbyterian Church, where he became a member and was also a member of the Faithful Followers Sunday School Class. In addition to his involvement at church, Ron enjoyed playing on and captaining various tennis teams, and playing music on his grand piano. Survivors include his loving wife, Laura; daughters, Holly Medlock (Justin), Caroline Hammock (Waldo) and Olivia Chalmers (Marcos Colón); grandchildren, Elloree Hammock, Carter Medlock, Julianna Medlock, Brantley Hammock and Ryker Hammock; brother, David Standley; niece, Maryanne Sloan. Pallbearers will be Justin Medlock, Waldo Hammock, Marcos Colón, Paul Manci, Johnny Dickerson and Danny Drake. Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of the Faithful Followers Sunday School Class.
