North Augusta, SC—Funeral Services for Mr. Sherman E. “Ernie” Ekre, 90, of Bradford Drive, North Augusta, SC who entered into rest August 3, 2007 will be conducted Monday morning at 11 o’clock from the Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home. Pastor Baxter Stanley officiating. Interment in Pineview Memorial Gardens with Veterans Honors. Mr. Ekre was a native of North Dakota, having made North Augusta his home for the past 55 years. He was US Navy veteran of World War II, an avid gardener and woodworker and a retired insurance salesman with Metropolitan Life. Survivors include his wife, Tommie P. Ekre; three sons and daughters-in-law, William E. and Kathy Ekre, Trenton, SC, Mike S. and Teresa Ekre, Graniteville, SC and Dan S. Ekre, North Augusta, SC; a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda E. and Dale Johns, Lexington, SC; a brother, Robert Ekre, Beach, ND; two sisters, Elsie Jones, Springdale, AK and Doris Hinman, Baker, MT; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Chad Ekre, Brian Johns, Matt Hoover, Matt Schlachter, Andy Barrett and Dale Johns. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5 to 7.
