Mr. Tommy Frank Kaney North Augusta, SC—Memorial Services for Mr. Tommy Frank Kaney, 60, of Blanchard Road, North Augusta, SC, who entered into rest November 10, 2012, will be conducted Saturday morning at 11 o’clock in the Posey Funeral Chapel. Dr. Alan Tillman and Dr. Randy Cooper officiating. Tommy was born on June 23, 1952 to Thomas and the late Yvonne Brewer Kaney, having made the North Augusta-Belvedere area his life-long residence. He graduated from North Augusta High School and the Stephen W. Brown School of Radiography. After graduating, during the late 1970’s & 80’s, he managed the Whipping Post and Katmandu in Augusta, where his love of music, from Rock-n-Roll, Southern Rock to Blues was well known. He enjoyed many years in this business where he made many great friends, some of whom he still associated with. In 1989, Tommy began working in the Radiology Department of University Hospital where he spent the past 23 years helping others, as well as making many friends. Tommy was regarded by many as an avid Outdoorsman, where he was known as“Legend”. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. His ability to make other laugh as well as his jokes will be remembered. He was preceded in death by his mother and sister, Melody Kaney Hall. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Vickie Sims Kaney; two sons, Patrick Thomas Kaney and Christopher Tyler Kaney; father and his wife, Thomas and Sara Kaney; father-in-law and his wife, Bobby and Sharon Sims; mother-in-law, Frankie (Les Agner) Sims; Aunt & Uncle, Dr. & Mrs. Larry Hogue; nieces, Tonya (Reed) Cantonwine Dyches and Brittney (David) Warnock Brunson; nephews, Brandon (Michelle) Warnock and Joshua Hall; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Pam and Billy Warnock: several other cherished aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 until 8. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Stephen W. Brown School of Radiography Endowment or the Antonio “Tony” Molini Endowment c/o University Hospital Healthcare Foundation, 2100 Central Avenue, Suite D-1, Augusta, GA 30904. The family expresses gratitude to Dr. Brent Limbaugh, Dr. Paul Schwartz, Dr. David Hoque, the medical staff at Augusta Oncology, the Oncology staff at University Hospital as well as Sara Hogue, Kenneth Redd and Stan Wilder for their loving care.
