Bobbye L. Rushton

Berryville, VA – Funeral Services for Bobbye Lou Elliott Rushton, 94, of Berryville, Virginia who entered into rest January 11, 2026, will be conducted Saturday afternoon, February 7, 2026, at 2 o’clock from Grace United Methodist Church. Private interment will follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening, February 6, 2026 from 5 until 7. Bobbye was born on September 10, 1931, in Lono, Arkansas to the late Theodore Hinsley Elliott and Eura Mae Smith Elliott. The majority of her life, she lived in North Augusta, South Carolina, where she was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Bobbye had a love for children which led her to a career in education. She influenced many young people before retiring as a kindergarten teacher’s aide. Everyone who met Bobbye adored her, and she always had a special way of drawing people in. She loved nearly all she met and always had a kind word to share. Bobbye loved all things bright and cheerful, especially the Christmas season. She would often start decorating her home in October and enjoy this until the end of February. When questioned, she would often say that she had to look at the other stuff the rest of the year and she liked her Christmas decorations. In addition to her parents, Bobbye was preceded in death by her husband, Kellogg Rushton; son, David Wayne Rushton; sister, Bettye Sue Elliott; and brother, Theo Dale Elliott. She is survived by her two daughters, Martha Louise Fischmeister and Lyndia Rushton Miller (Thomas); one brother, Jim Elliott (Sandra); three “grands”, Amy Rushton Dickerson (Kyle), Erin Lindsey Rushton (Connor), and Jordan Elizabeth Calkins. She is also survived by her best friend, caretaker, and “Angel-on-Earth”, Sarah Lawson; as well as her bonus-grandchildren, Morgan Brittany Miller, Mackenzie Patrice Germinario (Tim), and Cassidy Alexandra Miller. Bobbye had six great-grandchildren who brought great joy and laughter to her life.
