Donald Franklin Harden

Grovetown, GA- Visitation for Donald Franklin Harden, 80, who entered into rest June 30, 2025, will be held Monday, July 7, from 5 until 7 o'clock at Posey Funeral Directors. A private interment will be held at Westview Cemetery. Donald Harden, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away surrounded by love and family. Born on April 17, 1945, in Augusta, GA, to the late Grover and Cora Lee Kirkendall Harden. He was lovingly raised by Grover and Ella Harden, his loving stepmother, who became his parents in every way that mattered due to the passing of Mrs. Cora when Donald was just six months old. A proud Augusta native, Donald had recently made Grovetown, GA his home. In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Harden, and his two sisters, Bernice Stewart and Hazel Cook. He is survived by his loving daughter, Deana (Chris) Brown; grandchildren Brittany (Josh) Clayton, Krissie (David) Morris, and Erica Flakes; and five great-grandchildren: Addison Morris, Landon Clayton, Alexx Bllue, Jaxton Morris, and Joshua Quick. He also leaves behind his former wife and dear friend, Carolyn Dyson; a stepson, David Swetman; a niece, Carol (Vince) Hardy; a nephew, Mike Stewart; three great-nephews Kevin Stewart, Nathan (Katie) Stewart, and Jody Johnson; a special cousin, Tony Horne; and his lifelong friend and co-worker, Mr. Willie Stallings. He worked as a professional painter for over 20 years with Austin Industries and was known not only for his strong work ethic but for his infectious spirit and ability to make anyone laugh. A friend to all, Donald had a natural way of lifting the mood in any room. His favorite pastime was sitting in his chair, watching the news—earning him the affectionate title of our very own weatherman. Donald was a man of simple joys—fishing, spending time with his family, and relaxing with his beloved dogs, Priscilla and Sport, by his side. He had a style all his own: a button-up shirt with two chest pockets; with his Marlboro Red 100s in one pocket and his glasses in the other. Every now and then, he’d enjoy a shot of Lord Calvert to top off the day—just another piece of the man we all knew and loved. So here’s to you, Daddy and Papa Don— your humor, warmth, and those everyday moments of quiet strength will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in every laugh and every forecast.
