Frances Cecelia Pavlecic Felak

North Augusta, SC - Surrounded by her loving family on her 90th birthday Frances Cecelia Felak went to be with the Lord Jesus. The Memorial Mass will be conducted Saturday morning, May 11, 2024, at 9 o’clock at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with Father J. Antony Das Gaspar celebrant. Interment will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Washington County, PA at a later date. A vigil will be prayed at the funeral home Friday evening, May 10 at 5 o’clock followed by the visitation until 7 PM. She last lived at Hammond Square Assisted Living facility and was born in McKeesport Pennsylvania on April 26,1934 to the late Helen and Charles Pavlecic, the 7th of 9 children. “Honey Girl” married the late Tom Felak in 1955 and they made their home over the years in southwestern PA, Virginia, Texas, and finally in the North Augusta, South Carolina area where she worked in Aiken County Public School food services. She and her husband served as caretakers of the Savannah River Plant ORA facility for many years, where Fran enjoyed managing the snack bar for baseball games and many other events. It was a delightful place for her grandchildren to spend time with her. Fran was active in her church throughout her life, serving in the Altar Society at St John the Baptist Byzantine Church in Avella PA and as a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in North Augusta, SC. She was known for her delicious cooking, making pierogis, halupkies and pizzelles for any visit of family or friends. Fran also loved sports, watching her husband play baseball in the Marines and for the Pittsburgh Pirates club system, and follow her sons playing golf, basketball, baseball and football throughout their youth. She was a loyal Steelers and Pirates fan, win or lose. She often won tournament pools because of her knowledge of all the teams. Fran and her husband enjoyed bowling and played in various leagues in the Aiken area. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and seven siblings. Fran is survived by her beloved sons Chuck Felak (Debi Black) of Avella, PA and John Felak (Mary Clutter) of North Augusta, 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren whom she adored. Also surviving are brother Tom Pavlecic (Joan) of San Jose, CA, brother-in-law David Felak (Shirley) of Aiken, SC and many nieces and nephews.
