Jimmie L. Lanford

With deep love and remembrance, we honor the life of Jimmie Lee Lanford who passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 8, 2026, at the age of 88. Jimmie lived a life devoted to Christ marked by resilience, strong work ethic and devotion to family and friends. Born in Laurens, SC, Jimmie was a native of Greenwood, SC. He lived in Langley, SC for the past 53 years. He was a member of Langley United Methodist Church where he was a lay leader and then later at Bath United Methodist Church where he was a lay leader, Sunday school teacher and treasurer for the church. Jimmie retired from Peoples Security Life Insurance with 32 years of service. He also retired with 21 years served with the South Carolina Army National Guard Co C 122nd Engineer Battalion in Graniteville, SC. He also sold Life insurance for the National Guard Life Insurance Association. He was incredibly proud to be a veteran and held great pride in this country. His true passion was his business of over 40 years - the Little Elves Attic. He loved being a salesman and friend to many law enforcement members of the CSRA, EMT’s and avid hunters. A dedicated Gardner, he spent countless hours caring for his garden. He found happiness outdoors, and his plants thrived because of the love and attention he gave them. He also loved watching the Atlanta Braves. Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Norma Rhoden Lanford. Together they built a life of faith, family, and grace. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lucille Lanford; his sister, Mary Clary; and his brother, Wayne Sprouse. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Rusty Lanford, Becky McKnight (Mike) and Melissa Baggott (Van); his grandchildren, Nathan McKnight (Lilly), Colby McKnight (Adrienne), Brittany Cannon (Ben), Samantha Billiter (Cody), Evan Lanford, Hannah Lanford, Anthony Baggott (Samantha), and Tripp Baggott; and eleven great-grandchildren. A special thank you to Ashley La Pan with Enhabit Hospice and the staff at Barclay House for the love, compassion and excellent care you gave our daddy during this difficult time. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock from Langley Church of God with Pastor Edward Hardee officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the committal service. Pallbearers will be Van Baggott, Wade Baggott, Cody Billiter, Michael McKnight, Nathan McKnight and Colby McKnight.
