Mary Lou Peeples Norman

North Augusta, SC- Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Lou Peeples Norman, 89, who entered into rest July 26, 2023, will be conducted Saturday August 5, 2023, at Noon from the Posey Funeral Chapel with Rev. Roy Kiser officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Norman was a native of Estill, SC having made North Augusta her home for the past 51 years. She was a graduate of Estill High School in 1949, where she was a member of the National Beta Club and Gator Girls. Mrs. Norman received her Bachelor of Arts in Early Education from Furman University. While attending Furman she was a member of the Sociology Club, Furman Music Club, and the Furman Band where she enjoyed learning how to play the piano, clarinet, and the ukulele. She was a retired third grade teacher having taught in Charleston, Cheyenne, Beech Island, Belvedere, and Hammond Hill Elementary of North Augusta. Mrs. Norman was actively involved in several organizations within the community: serving as Worthy Past Matron and Grand Electa of the Eastern Star Chapter #76 - Golden Glow in North Augusta; certified Master Gardener where she volunteered with the Clemson Extension; past president of Yellow Jasmine Garden Club of North Augusta; Harmony River Chorus of Sweet Adeline’s International; Senior Adult Choir of North Augusta First Baptist Church; Strom Fellowship for Senior Adults; and Silver Sneaker Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William Henry Norman, Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Tamara Jeanne “Tammy” Norman; a son William “Bill” Henry Norman, III; three grandchildren, James Daniel Moore and Julie (Michael) Prosser, Timothy "Clayton" (Whitni) Pennington; one great-grandchild, Carson William Prosser; a brother, Duncan Ira Peeples, III; and two nephews Duncan and Mason Peeples. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter # 76. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Hospice of South Carolina and Traditions Hospice for the care of Mrs. Mary Lou Peeples Norman. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #76, 499 Brookside Ave., North Augusta, SC 29841.
