Betty Hicks Duncan

Funeral Services for Betty Hicks Duncan, 90, who entered into rest July 16, 2026, will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, July 21, 2026, at 2 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel, North Augusta, SC. Rev. Bart Grey officiating. Interment will be held in Graniteville Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends and extended family at the funeral home on Monday evening, July 20, 2026, from 5 until 7 o'clock. Betty was born December 21, 1935, in Summertown, GA to the late James Luther and Otis "Dot" Irene Hicks. She grew up in Augusta, GA, and after marriage, she and her beloved husband moved to the Mableton and Douglasville, GA areas. There they lovingly raised their family and Betty and Thomas then returned to the Augusta area in the early 1990s. She dedicated many years to her career at Bellsouth as a Service Representative until retirement in 1995. A devout Christian, her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she faithfully attended and was a member of The Sanctuary Church. She also was a member of the Boating Club of Augusta. Betty was known for her happy and pleasant demeanor, her hard-working spirit, and unwavering willingness to provide a helping hand to friends and family. Betty cherished spending time with her family and was a loving, humble, and kind woman. Her life was a testament to her strong faith and devotion to her family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Thomas O'Neal Duncan and two brothers, Walter "WL" Lloyd Hicks and James "Sonny" Hicks. Surviving members of the family left to cherish her memory include her sons, Tony (Carla) Vaughn Duncan, Terry O'Neal Duncan, and Tracy Victor Duncan; four grandchildren, William Tony Duncan, Ashley Taylar Duncan, Garrett Luke (Taylor) Duncan, and Logan O'Neal (Amelia) Duncan; three great-grandchildren, Paisley May Duncan, Kenneth Bowen Duncan and Bower Bruce Duncan and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
