Wade Brantley Blount, M.D.

Wade Brantley Blount, MD, 77, of North Augusta, SC, entered into rest on August 26, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with lymphoma. Memorial Services will be conducted Friday morning, September 4, 2026, at 11 o’clock in the Chapel at First Baptist Church of Augusta with Dr. Will Dyer officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Interment will be private. Dr. Blount was born August 18, 1949, to the late Judson Brantley “J.B.” Blount, Jr. and Marie Thomas Blount. A lifelong resident of North Augusta, he graduated from North Augusta High School (Class of 1967) and Clemson University (Class of 1971). He later received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and completed his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Blount went on to practice as an OB/GYN at Augusta Gyn (now OB-GYN Partners) for 38 years, caring for generations of women and families throughout the CSRA. Throughout his distinguished career, he was active in several professional organizations and was honored to serve as Chief of the Medical Staff at University Hospital. Dr. Blount was respected not only for his medical expertise, but also for the kindness, warmth, and compassion he brought to every patient. His gentle bedside manner and genuine concern for others left a lasting impression on countless lives. Outside of medicine, Dr. Blount enjoyed the simple pleasures that brought him happiness. He loved the beach and cherished time with those closest to him. Music was another special part of his life, and he delighted in singing in a barbershop quartet as well as the Sanctuary Choir at First Baptist Church of Augusta. He was a member at FBC Augusta for over 50 years, serving his Lord and the church in numerous capacities including deacon, trustee, choir member, and Chairman of the Chapel/Fellowship Hall building committee. Above all else, Wade treasured his family. He married his sweetheart, Page, on August 14, 1971, beginning a marriage filled with love, devotion, and companionship. Together, they recently celebrated 55 years of marriage. His greatest joy was his family, and he especially delighted in spending time with his two grandsons, who were the light of his life. Surviving family members left to cherish his memory include his wife, Page Coleman Blount; a daughter, Alison Blount Powell (Josh); his grandsons, Asher Brantley Powell and Cole Robert Powell. Honorary Pallbearers will be the OB/GYN Partners and their spouses. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 3500 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30909 or to the Clemson University Foundation, PO Box 1889, Clemson, SC 29631 The family would like to give special thanks to Locke A. Bryan, MD, Lauren Bigham, PhD, the staff of the Georgia Cancer Center, and Jeremy Wells, MD of Augusta Oncology Associates for their excellent care, support, and compassion throughout Dr. Blount’s long cancer journey.
