Willard E. Stewart

North Augusta, SC—Funeral Services for Mr. Willard E. Stewart, 92, who entered into rest September 7, 2026 will be conducted this Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel. Rev. Gene Jennings, Rev. Kyle Wilkinson and Dr. Landon Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens with Veterans Honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 12:30 until the hour of service. Mr. Stewart was a native of Houston, Alabama, having made North Augusta his home for the past 76 years. He answered his country's call as a soldier in the United States Army, serving in Panama during the Korean conflict, and remained proud of that service throughout his life as a member of the Jesse C. Lynch Memorial American Legion Post #71. Mr. Stewart retired from Augusta Newsprint with 30 years of service. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta, where he served faithfully as a deacon and was a beloved member of the Timothy Sunday School Class and the Sheffield Club. His devotion extended well beyond the church doors. A member and Past Master of Acacia Masonic Lodge #315 AFM, he was honored by his neighbors twice over for a life spent in quiet service to others — as the Sheffield Club's Man of the Year in 1994, and as the recipient of the North Augusta Exchange Club's "Golden Deeds" award in 2005. Willard was a faithful follower of Christ who put others first. He selflessly and humbly loved, cared for, and provided for his wife and family and he happily served his church family and many in the North Augusta community. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Carolyn Hall Stewart; his parents, Milous and Georgia Stewart; three brothers, Wallace Stewart, Bill Stewart and Newt Stewart; two sisters, Dora Mae Brindley and Margaret Chambers. Survivors include his children, Eddie (Louanne) Stewart and Beth (Gene) Jennings; four grandchildren, Wes (Jessica) Stewart, Jessie (Dan) Barta, Cliff (Amanda) Jennings and Bailey (Kyle) Wilkinson; 12 grandchildren; siblings, JC (Gladys) Stewart, Etta Martin, Elvira Beck and Joe (Linda) Stewart.
