Charles Lindsay Baker Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

North Augusta, SC – Funeral Services for Mr. Charles Lindsay Baker, 85, who entered into rest June 25, 2022, will be conducted Tuesday evening at 5:30 pm at Stevens Creek Church with Rev. Marty Baker and Rev. Dave Willis officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. A private family interment will be conducted in Westover Memorial Park prior to the service. Mr. Baker was born January 25, 1937, to the late Leroy and Minnie Lee Baker, the oldest of nine children. He was a native of Winnsboro, SC, where he met and married his sweetheart and wife, Trevor Annette Martin Baker. Together they moved to Abbeville, SC and started their family. Mr. Baker was a longtime member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church and was actively involved in the Abbeville community for many years. He was elected and served on the City Council in Abbeville, SC. He was also involved in several civic organizations: Jaycees, Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Lions Club, Moose Club, and served as an Auxiliary Policeman. Mr. Baker was a sports enthusiast and a passionate Abbeville Panther fan and also a faithful South Carolina Gamecock fan. His greatest joy in life was his family. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, a faithful husband and a devoted caregiver to his wife of 63 years during her long battle with Alzheimer’s. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Trever Annette Martin Baker; two sisters, Carolyn Jacobs and Louise Rambo. Mr. Baker is survived by his children, Lynn (Frank) Dempsey and Rev. Marty (Patty) Baker; his grandchildren, Morgan (Chris) Brookhart, Stuart Baker, Sarah (Drew) Landrum, Meredith (Chris) Mayer-Dempsey, Frank Baker Dempsey and Samuel Baker; his great-grandchildren, Summit, Finley, Forrest, Luke, Sheppard and Graham. He is also survived by three brothers, Rev. Wesley (Mary Sue) Baker, Harold (Miriam) Baker and Frankie (Sandy) Baker; three sisters, Rachel Hogue, Juanita (Russell) Powell and Mary (Rev. Darrell) Croft. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of God Home for Children in Mauldin, SC or the Children’s’ Ministry of Stevens Creek Church in Augusta, GA.
