Franklin "Frank" Eugene Odom

North Augusta, SC- Funeral Services for Franklin "Frank" Eugene Odom, 92, who entered into rest July 27, 2026, will be conducted Saturday afternoon August 1, 2026, at 2 o’clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel. Interment in Pineview Memorial Gardens with veterans’ honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Frank was born on April 6, 1934, in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Lem E. and Mattie Virginia Shoultz Odom. He made North Augusta, SC his lifelong home, where he dedicated 39 years of his career as a Lab Technology Analyst with DuPont. Frank proudly served his country in the Marine Corps, where he was honored with the American Spirit of Honor Medal. The American Spirit of Honor Medal was given to Frank for his display of outstanding qualities of leadership best expressing the American spirit, honor, initiative, loyalty and high example to comrades during his recruit training. Frank was a devout Christian, and his faith was very important to him. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Augusta and attended Curtis Baptist Church and Southern Methodist Church. A man of many talents and passions, Frank was a gifted author, who published two books, "Country Boy South" and "Boot Camp Diary." He was a self-taught musician, mastering the piano, accordion, and guitar, and composing numerous songs. Frank’s interest in his family's heritage led him to become a member of the National Odom Assembly of Genealogy Research in 1981, for which he also wrote the theme song. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Frances Jeannette Akins Odom; his brother, Millard "Buddy" Odom and his sisters, Dora Padgett and Ruth McDaniel. Surviving members of the family left to cherish his memory include his son, Wallace "Wally" Odom; his daughter, Kim Odom (Greg) Green; his grandchildren Caleb (Amanda) Odom and Katie (Brantley) Yu; a great grandson, Cooper Odom, and a great-grandbaby due in February.
