Lee Ivan Lindsey

NORTH AUGUSTA, SC: Lee I. Lindsey, age 79, entered peacefully into rest on August 7, 2026. Born in Charleston, South Carolina in 1947, Lee was the eldest son of Larry L. Lindsey and Janell M. Lindsey. In 1951, Delta Airlines brought the Lindsey family to Augusta, Georgia, where Lee was raised. Graduating from Butler High School in 1965 and later from Augusta College, Lee earned a commission in the United States Navy to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a Navy fighter pilot. He was deeply honored to serve his country and fly, and to even training the next generation of candidates as a flight instructor. Following his naval service, Lee would continue to fly professionally working for Braniff airlines. Ever evolving, he would study tactics and security working for Wackenhut Services at the Savannah River Site, and eventually serving as a security consultant for both the federal government and private sectors. It is in this diverse experiential environment that Lee found great satisfaction and meet many life-long friends who he valued greatly. Lee was passionate about knowledge and was rarely found without a book in his lap. Often, many friends and family would lovingly prod him as a "walking encyclopedia" due to the vast knowledge he possessed on almost any subject and how he was able to help others whenever called to help. Lee was, above all, a man of profound kindness, compassion, and steadfast character. To his family, he was known affectionately as "Mr. Fix It“. Rather than simply taking over a project, he turned every broken item into a patient, detailed teaching opportunity, working hand in hand with his children, Russell and Lauren. Lee led by example teaching his children the value of being a great listener, a dependable friend, and a person of character. He taught them how to be steadfast in their values and showed them the importance of knowledge and the privilege of sharing it with others. As a family man, Lee also devoted himself as a loving caregiver to his parents and his father-in-law, LC Hooper. He found joy in simple pleasures, frequently exploring yard sales, antique stores, and estate sales with Pam. As a reflection of his patience, Lee always held a deep love of fishing. Whether casting a line into a quiet pond or out on the deep ocean, fishing was one of his greatest lifelong passions. His family and friends will forever cherish countless memories of him smiling ear to ear as he reeled in his latest catch. To Lee, his wife Pam was his everything, and he was hers. As best friends, they were rarely seen apart, always eager to help each other with any endeavor. Their marriage of 42 years was a beautiful, sincere, and fiercely loyal partnership that perfectly exemplified their sacred oath to love one another in sickness and in health. Lee’s proudest accomplishment was always his family, and his passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who loved him. Lee is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Pamela Hooper Lindsey; his son, Russell C. Lindsey (Mika); his daughter, Lauren L. Matherly (Jacob); his grandchildren [Ezra and Ellis Lindsey]; his brother, Craig M. Lindsey (Pam T.); and numerous nieces, nephews, and close cousins. Memorial services for Lee will be held privately at a later date.
