Melissa "Lissa" Elisabeth Presnell

Melissa “Lissa” Elisabeth Presnell, 44, daughter of Sharon M. Presnell and Steve A. Presnell, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 13, 2026. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 11:00 am at The Ole Grain Bin, 600 Beech Island Avenue, Beech Island, SC 29842. Born in Augusta, Georgia and raised in North Augusta, South Carolina, Lissa was proud to call this community home. She spent a short time living in Augusta before graduating from Westside High School. She later attended Georgia Perimeter College, where she proudly played collegiate basketball, before continuing her education at Augusta State University, where she earned her nursing degree. If there was one role Lissa cherished above all others, it was being a mom. Chase and Bryce were the greatest joy of her life. They were her pride, her purpose, and the center of her world. Everything she did, she did for her boys. Whether they were under the Friday night lights playing football, on the baseball field, on the basketball court, or on the soccer field, Lissa was always their biggest fan. She rarely missed a game and loved every minute spent cheering them on. Watching her boys compete, grow, and succeed brought her more joy than anything else in life. She celebrated every victory, picked them up after every defeat, and loved them with all her heart. Lissa was also, without question, her mom’s girl. She and her mother, Sharon “Memommie”, shared a deeply loving and special bond that meant the world to them both. Lissa was a devoted daughter, a loving sister, an incredible aunt, and a fiercely loyal friend. Family was everything to her. Her brothers and sisters weren’t just family, they were her best friends. Through every season of life, every celebration, every challenge, and every heartbreak, Lissa loved them fiercely and stood beside them. No matter what life brought, they always knew they could count on her. To her nieces and nephews, she was lovingly known as “Lala,” a title she wore with pride. She loved every one of them with her whole heart and treasured every opportunity to make memories with them. Loving her family came as naturally as breathing, and there was never a doubt how deeply she loved each and every one of them. Lissa never met a stranger. She had a caring heart, an infectious smile, and an incredible sense of humor that could brighten even the hardest day. Quick-witted and always ready with a joke, she loved making people laugh. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, accepted, and loved. Whether you knew her for five minutes or fifty years, you walked away knowing you had met someone special. A lifelong athlete, Lissa loved sports almost as much as she loved watching her boys play. She enjoyed playing softball, basketball, and kickball and never lost her competitive spirit. She was also an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan and could always be counted on to cheer loudly for the Dawgs. Lissa’s caring heart extended far beyond her family. Caring for others wasn’t just her career, it was part of who she was. Throughout her nursing career, she cared for patients at several hospitals throughout the CSRA, including University Hospital, Trinity Hospital, Select Specialty Hospital, and, most recently, the Augusta VA Medical Center, where she proudly cared for our nation’s veterans for the past several years. No matter where she worked, she was known for her kindness, compassion, dedication, and the genuine care she showed every patient, family, and coworker she encountered. Lissa was an animal lover her entire life, but the bond she shared with her beloved dog, Zayla, was truly one of a kind. Zayla wasn’t just her dog. She was her baby. The unconditional love they shared brought Lissa endless joy and comfort. More than anything, Lissa will be remembered for the way she lived and loved. She loved fiercely, laughed often, gave generously, and always put others before herself. Whether she was caring for a patient, cheering from the sidelines, making someone laugh, or simply spending time with the people she loved, she made every moment count. Her beautiful spirit, contagious laughter, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone blessed to know her. Although our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that the love Lissa gave so freely will continue to live on through her boys, her family, and everyone blessed enough to have known her. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Arlie Presnell; her maternal grandfather, John Moehrke; and her maternal grandmother, Ronelle Moehrke. She is survived by her beloved sons, Chase Presnell and Bryce Presnell; her parents, Sharon M. Presnell and Steve A. Presnell; her grandmother, Georgia Presnell; her siblings, Shari Williams (Keith), Eric Presnell (Katarina), Ben Presnell (Michelle), and Ashley Presnell; her cherished nieces and nephews, Kayla, Jason, Tessa, Damian, Jaelyn, Katie, Carter, Colton, Callie, and Caiden; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, coworkers, dear friends, and everyone whose life was made brighter by knowing her. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare, 199 Willow Run Road, Aiken, SC 29801. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming love, prayers, support, and kindness shown during this incredibly difficult time.
