Victor Fernandez, II

Victor Fernandez II passed on July 16, 2026 at the age of 55 in Augusta, Georgia. He was born on June 23, 1971 in San Antonio, Texas to his beloved parents, Mary Helen Galo and Victor Fernandez Sr. Victor graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Management and an Associates Degree in General Studies from Franklin University and Georgia Military College respectively. Victor served 30 years on Active Duty service in the United States Army and retired at the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He also attended the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class 56. Over his 30 year career, he served as the G6 Sergeant Major, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, KY; Command Sergeant Major, 1st Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, KY and the Senior Enlisted Combat Advisor, 2nd Brigade/201st Corps, Afghan National Army, Kunar Province, Afghanistan. He was awarded the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal, as well as the Combat Action Badge, the Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, and United States Army Air Assault Badge. His lifelong commitment to service is evident not just in his military career but through his endless encounters of helping others in need, providing unmitigated advice, his unwavering generosity and his selfless character. His family and friends remember him as a force of nature. A true leader, a caretaker, and a lending ear. He was the cornerstone of his family and for many, a solid presence in the storm of life. His wife, children and grandchildren are reminded of his gentleness, his ability to light the mood tenfold, and his willingness to do anything he could for them. His love of documenting the moment in photos serve as a comfort to them and reminds us all that every moment is precious. Victor is survived by his beloved wife and soulmate, Irene; his six children: Kim, John, Victor, Kristiana, Sophia and Antonio and his four grandchildren, Gabe, Leia, Athena and Mateo. Victor’s legacy of endless service, generosity, love and laughter will be carried on by his loving family and everyone who crossed paths with him. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
